Conditions for China to provide assistance to the political settlement of the armed conflict in Ukraine are becoming increasingly favorable, as Russia, which is in a difficult situation for Kiev, has declared its readiness for negotiations. A Chinese newspaper writes about this Global Times.
The publication thus commented on the meeting held in Moscow between Li Hui, the Chinese government’s special representative for Eurasian affairs, and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin.
Cui Heng, an analyst at the China-Shanghai Cooperation Organization Training Center, noted that the conflict in Ukraine deprived not only this country but also Russia of its power, and exhausted the European Union and the United States. In his view, this creates more opportunities for peaceful negotiations and mediation efforts to resolve the Ukrainian crisis.
According to Cui Heng, China can play a decisive role in facilitating the political resolution of the conflict in the current situation. The expert also stated that weather conditions in the spring prevented large-scale military operations, so no serious changes on the battlefield should be expected in the coming months.
