Papi Robles: “When testosterone is withdrawn from public spaces, we are quite capable of reaching agreements”

Papi Robles, Compromís spokesperson at the Cortes, remains close to Consell’s former vice-president, Mónica Oltra, and is highly critical of Ximo Puig’s role. Now, he believes Botànic will finish off the legislature and budgets will be out this year. Without Oltra, his bet is on his assistant, Joan Baldoví.

Did it take too long to resign from Monica Oltra?

No. This has been personal harassment. I also know that Monica stood up not for herself but for the people she represents, and she’s been fighting to change people’s lives all these years. He did what he thought he should do, and that should be respected.

They talk about personal abuse, but there is a sentence saying that the juvenile under guardianship was abused by her ex-husband. Little unprotected?

Two completely different processes must be distinguished. Indeed, there is a penalty for a case of harassment by a minor, and all Botànic, including Mónica Oltra, have always shown solidarity with the abused minor by sentence, but we do not judge Monica. oltra for that. The sentence here should be very different from a process in which Mónica Oltra had nothing to do and the judicialization of the ministry’s action, which at a given moment was closed by the court and reopened for several appeals. By José Luis Roberto and Cristina Seguí.

Oltra is accused of covering up…

Mónica Oltra has been vice-president and head of the Ministry for Equality and Inclusive Policies, and accordingly, she always stood up when asked. Let’s see where the process is. We have a man of good standing at Cortes and no one looked at him and Monica was put on trial straight away.

Could the wear and tear for him, Compromís and Botànic himself have been avoided if the resignation had come earlier?

All decisions taken have consequences. If I had decided earlier, it would have been sooner, and it’s really just a matter of days. The impeachment comes on Thursday, the resignation comes on Tuesday. Could things have gone differently? Yes, but resignation is something that only concerns him.

To what extent can everything that has happened lately harm Compromís?

Frankly, we’re the people who built this project, and it hurts. So, of course, let’s call it an invoice. Now we come out of this process stronger and remember why we are here and what we came to do. We’re not here to build corridors, but to make sure that there isn’t a single person in the Community who doesn’t have electricity in their home or is afraid of not being able to eat. We were touched that Monica was so important to our project, but we were empowered to do whatever she asked us to do.

And at the electoral level?

At Compromís, we have shown that we are a very consolidated force, although many are upset. Obviously, selection processes have many nuances that can punish or reward you at a given moment, but we already have a mark of quality in the Department of Inclusive Policies, the policies we implement at the Ministry of Education. , in the Economy or the Environment. Things have happened in the community that would never have happened with a Socialist Party government alone, and I don’t even want to talk about a PP government anymore. I’m from Orihuela and I’ve seen the revolution happening with the building and rehabilitation of schools in Vega Baja. While Compromis has always been accused of being a force that doesn’t empathize with the Southernmost regions of the Community, the truth is that our policies respond to the needs there.

How are relations with PSPV right now?

We have demonstrated many times that we have a great capacity for dialogue, but both the People’s Party and the Socialist Party did not want to finish integrating that politics is no longer a bipartisan thing. We have seen repeated attempts to interfere with decisions that only Compromís can make. We are a coalition government and indeed the president is Ximo Puig, but he can’t decide on Compromise and I’m afraid they haven’t fully understood that yet. I have an excellent relationship with PSPV’s board of trustees and we can reach agreements, we can sit at a table and talk, but if the attempt is to send messages to put pressure on us through the press, that way won’t work.

Could everything go wrong?

If people insist that things are getting worse… And of course, it can get better. Both the Socialist Party and the Unides Podem and Compromís have a responsibility and it would be a shame if we do not comply, because what the people want from us is that we rule together and that means making decisions in a common style. Also, Unides Podem and Compromis have more votes than the Socialist Party.

A day after the impeachment, Àgueda Micó’s words that Botànic would disband if Puig fired Oltra without a deal didn’t go well at all…

If Puig fires Mónica Oltra, that doesn’t mean Compomís has broken the Government. As soon as President Ximo Puig tries to make a unilateral decision about another group, Botànik is violating the Pact and will be responsible for breaking that agreement.

Will the Botànic Government end the legislature?

We’ll finish the legislature and I’ll bet we have a budget this year almost 100%. I also see that when testosterone is removed from the public sphere, we are quite capable of reaching agreements. Ana Barceló entered the Valencian Parliament a month ago. There was a decree that we had to work hard on and talk about, and we came to an agreement that all parties were happy with.

How would you describe the party in Valencia on Saturday?

Such are acts of reconciliation. It is true that a climate of opinion has been created, but there is dance, celebration in all acts of Reconciliation, for that is what acts are for, and we will always claim the right to joy. Having said that, taking a minute of the video of that action and guessing how interesting, coinciding with the Andalusian elections as they were, certainly let the focus not focus on what it was. After that, things did not go well in Andalusia.

What role will Monica Oltra play next?

Mónica has earned the right to devote time to herself, to the whole process, to her family, to the animals she finds and collects… Mónica has devoted her whole life to this project, she is a completely necessary person and we would be happy to have her.

Why did Aitana Mas become Consell’s vice president?

I have a very broken heart. I work very well with Aitana, she seems to me very honest and has extraordinary political values. We’ve been working very well with him on the caucus side, and I don’t think there’s a better person to fill that function right now. I am so happy for him but also sad because every day we are losing a great colleague and a very consistent person.

Where is Compromis’ leadership headed?

Mónica has stepped aside, Compromís needs to step forward and there we will see a very shared leadership of many people over the coming months, each contributing their point. And above all, what we will see is that they will find us on the street talking very closely to the leaders, to the people. When the time comes, the commitment lists will have to be structured with the agreements reached, but we will have a very diverse and very choral representation. However, Mónica Oltra will have the space she needs when she wants to come back.

Joan Baldoví the option in Oltra’s absence?

My bet would be Baldoví. He’s a person with a solid background, a capacity for empathy that I love, and his work in Madrid is unrivaled. I think he would make a good candidate, very well.
