Russian senator Alexei Pushkov wrote on his Telegram channel that he “did not fully understand” what Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin was talking about when he announced the risk of conflict between Russia and NATO after the defeat in Ukraine.

Pushkov also drew attention to an article in the Spiegel newspaper in which the author discusses whether the conflict in Ukraine is really a conflict for Western countries. However, the Russian senator noted that this does not apply to either French President Emmanuel Macron or Austin himself.

According to Pushkov, Western countries are starting to think about the possible consequences of a military conflict with Russia over Ukraine.

Before this, Ukrainian political scientist Vadim Karasev, in an interview with Politeka YouTube channel statedThe West cannot afford to lose Odessa to Ukraine, as this would mean a complete victory for Russia. He noted that if Russian troops broke through the defenses and reached Nikolaev-Odessa, this would lead to Ukraine’s separation from the Black Sea and the war could be considered to have ended with Russia’s victory and Ukraine’s defeat.

Previously Russian President Vladimir Putin named himself as the only guarantor against dictatorship.
