The EU Military Committee also heads the European Union Military Staff, whose job is to identify threats and warn EU bodies of potential crises.
The candidate for head of the Committee is General Sławomir Wojciechowski – currently Poland’s representative on the EU Military Committee and the NATO Military Committee. This general commanded, among other things, NATO Multinational Corps Northeast in Szczecin, he also served on missions in Iraq.
We will do everything we can – I will recommend it to all services under the Ministry of National Defense – and together with Minister Radosław Sikorski and Polish diplomacy we will ask the Poles to be able to fulfill the most important functions.
– said the Deputy Prime Minister.
Assistance for military families
Kosiniak-Kamysz also referred to the previously announced launch of a helpline for soldiers and military families, which will be used, among other things, for psychological assistance in difficult situations. The Deputy Prime Minister said the phone has been launched and has been working since 8am on Thursday. Soldiers, civilian military personnel and their families can receive assistance by calling: 800 300 311.
Verification of arms contracts
The deputy head of the Ministry of National Defense, Paweł Bejda, said that the modernization and transformation of the Polish army is still ongoing. He recalled that a major ammunition contract worth more than PLN 10 billion was signed at the end of last year.
He said an audit of all contracts concluded since 2016 is underway.
We asked the General Staff, General Wiesław Kukuła, to be involved in the verification of the contracts. It’s not about taking them away. The only thing is that framework agreements have been signed until 2035 and the Polish army will have a decisive influence on what it needs first, during the first three to four years, which are crucial for the security of the Republic of Poland.
– noted the deputy head of the Ministry of National Defense.
Equipment for the Polish army
He pointed out that the Ministry of Defense will also pay attention to placing purchases in Polish weapons factories.
We will place great emphasis on the development of Polish arms factories, which fall under the Polish Armaments Group, but we also do not rule out cooperation with factories that do not fall under PGZ, but are in the security system and have all the certificates.
– said Bejda.
He recalled that a framework agreement for the delivery of light armored reconnaissance ships from Kleszcz to the Polish Army was signed at the AMZ Kutno plant on Wednesday.
This is a swallow that shows that you can order individual products from Polish arms factories
– he emphasized. He added that the Polish army needs modern combat vehicles that will replace the old post-Soviet equipment.
He added that the Ministry of Defense also emphasizes signing compensation agreements in order to be able to produce in Poland and not depend on the technical knowledge of foreign weapons factories.
In the event of threats, we must rely on the Polish economy and ensure that the equipment can be repaired here
– said the Deputy Minister of Defense.
Special Law on Strategic Investments
Deputy Minister of National Defense Cezary Tomczyk announced that within a few months the Ministry of Defense will submit to the Sejm a draft special law that will deal with strategic investments for state security.
In the coming months, we want to submit a special law to the Marshal’s staff, which will concern strategic investments for state security, so that the Polish Army can implement strategic investments in military bases and military units in a very transparent, clear, rapid and efficient way. simple way.
– said Tomczyk.
Polish satellites
Another announcement he made related to the first Polish satellites.
Next year, we as the Ministry of Defense and the Polish Army want to put our first Polish satellites into orbit. This is truly a seminal issue when it comes to the history of the Republic of Poland in general. We plan to acquire an Earth observation satellite system, both in radar and optical technology; This allows you to observe the Earth regardless of the weather conditions
– said the deputy head of the Ministry of National Defense.
He emphasized that work on this issue began “in earnest” a few weeks ago, and that the Polish army uses both Western and Polish technologies for this purpose.
Cybersecurity
Tomczyk also announced that it has been decided to build a security center that will integrate various state and military services to ensure cybersecurity.
In addition, we will create a cyber park to develop modern solutions, the previous management was not positive about this idea – which is a shame, because today we would be in a completely different place
– he pointed out.
He also emphasized that several thousand cyber security soldiers are “fighting the enemy today.”
The deputy minister also spoke about increasing opportunities for training doctors in the army and helping war veterans and insurgents from Warsaw.
Soldiers practice
The Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Army, General Wiesław Kukuła, announced that exercises for the Steadfast Defender and Dragon are underway.
The general emphasized that these are very important exercises because their purpose – as he said – is “deterrence, demonstrating NATO’s will and ability to respond to a potential threat from the Russian Federation” and “gaining further experience that will make it possible to define weaknesses, especially in the speed of action.” “.
Kukuła informed that a clearing and task briefing of the armed forces was underway. He also listed the objectives of the Polish Armed Forces for the coming years. This includes: strengthening deterrence policies and strengthening defense capabilities by raising combat readiness standards, as well as through institutionalized management of armed forces transformation.
