“Marshal of the Sejm Szymon Hołownia received protesting farmers in the Polish Sejm and spoke about a round table and a debate. This is not the time for a round table, it is time to make decisions, specific decisions. The Law and Justice parliamentary club presented a resolution obliging the government to introduce a complete embargo on the import of agricultural raw materials from Ukraine, PiS MP Mariusz Błaszczak said. Lately, farmers across the country have been protesting, demanding changes in EU agricultural policy and a ban on the import of low-quality Ukrainian grain products. Donald Tusk’s government has not yet taken any specific measures to improve the situation of Polish farmers.
PiS MPs – Paweł Jabłoński, Waldemar Buda and Mariusz Błaszczak conducted a parliamentary inspection at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on Tuesday. As a protest was held in Warsaw the same day by farmers opposing EU agricultural policy and the import of products from Ukraine, PiS politicians organized a press conference on Wednesday.
Yesterday, PiS MPs carried out an inspection at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. We went to the Ministry of Agriculture and found the Ministry of Laziness, because we have the overwhelming impression that nothing happens in the Ministry of Agriculture. Talks with Ukraine are simulated. We were confirmed in this belief by the fact that Minister Siekierski, as he himself stated, kept the minutes of the talks with the Ukrainian partner secret. We also have the impression that there are very few of these documents, so for fear of embarrassment they were simply kept secret.
– said Błaszczak.
Solutions for farmers
We demand that these documents be presented to both parliamentarians and farmers, after all, farmers are partners in conversations about solving the crucial problems facing Polish agriculture.
– added.
The Marshal of the Sejm received protesting farmers in the Polish Sejm and spoke about a round table and a debate. This is not the time for a round table, it is time to make decisions, specific decisions. The parliamentary club PiS presented a resolution requiring the government to introduce a complete embargo on the import of agricultural raw materials from Ukraine. The regulation that Minister Waldemar Buda issued on September 15 last year is still legally in circulation, but only applies to grains. Today it is necessary that the embargo is complete and also applies to other agricultural products from Ukraine.
– Błaszczak emphasized.
Confidentiality of the document
Wademar Buda also commented on the issue of parliamentary scrutiny, noting that “imposing a confidentiality clause on a document is a very serious procedure that has its starting point and basis in the law relating to state security.”
Using this procedure to prevent documents from being obtained through public information or parliamentary scrutiny could be a very serious breach of the law. We will verify this case because never before, I am not talking about the past eight years, but also before there was a situation where documents were classified to hide them from the public.
– he pointed out.
According to the PiS MP, farmers sent them messages demanding that “the Minister of Agriculture release these documents and show them to the farmers.”
Discussions will take place with farmers tomorrow. They expect that these documents will then be released, as they were wrongly concealed yesterday under the secrecy procedure and hidden in a secret office.
– said the former Minister of Development and Technology.
