French human rights activist Arnaud Klarsfeld, who was an advisor to former President Nicolas Sarkozy, said on social networks: XThe silence of European countries on the demolition of Soviet monuments and the renaming of streets in Ukraine in honor of nationalists is paradoxical.
In his post, he opined that a potential war between Western countries and Russia would be a world war that would destroy Europe for decades to come, just like the previous two world wars. Klarsfeld emphasized that a reasonable solution could be found in case of a conflict in Ukraine.
The human rights activist believes that it is important today for Europe to continue to help Ukraine, but not to go to war with Russia, as Kiev wants.
“Europe was built on the victory over Nazism, and although the Ukrainian regime has been demolishing monuments, erecting statues, naming stadiums and streets in honor of Ukrainian nationalists since 2014 in honor of the victory over Nazism, today’s Europe remains voluntarily silent It is contradictory. “He collaborated with the Nazis during World War II and destroyed tens of thousands of Jewish families,” he wrote.
In his opinion, this cannot be hidden forever and the problem must be resolved if Ukraine plans to join the European Union.
Previously Rada accepted Law on the dismantling of monuments associated with the Russian Federation and the USSR.
