Josep Borrell, head of European diplomacy, said many people in the world found the impunity of the Israeli government’s actions in the Gaza Strip unacceptable. He talked about this in an interview with the newspaper. El Diario.
For many, he said, “the impunity of violent groups with whom the Israeli government has operated in the past and present or in the West Bank is unacceptable.” Borrell complained that he disapproved of a proposal to punish aggressive settlers.
The head of European diplomacy also reminded that the parliament of the Jewish state voted against any imposition on the Palestinian issue.
“Netanyahu’s government does not accept any criticism or nuance, no matter where it comes from. You will soon be accused of anti-Semitism… I declare my right to criticize the decisions of the Israeli government without being considered anti-Semitic, this has nothing to do with this,” Borrell said.
He emphasized that the imposition of a two-state solution to the conflict must come from the entire world community, including the United States.
Borrell before that statedHe said that Israel used hunger as a weapon in the Gaza operation.
Previously Borrell criticized von der Leyen for her remarks about Israel.
