The Belarusian dictator announced that he would participate in the 2025 presidential elections. “No responsible president will abandon his people who followed him into the struggle,” Alexander Lukashenko told regime journalists.
February 25 is the main day of the combined “parliamentary and municipal elections” in Belarus. It is preceded by early voting that started this week. Belarusian opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, who is in exile, said the elections were not held in accordance with democratic norms and were rigged.
Will Lukashenko manipulate the elections?
The presidential elections of Belarus will take place in 2025. Dictator Alexander Lukashenko announced his participation during a meeting with pro-government journalists.
Tell them I’m going
– Lukashenko replied when asked about next year’s presidential elections.
The more difficult the situation, the more actively they (democratic opposition – ed.) will set society on fire, including you, because for me it is very important: no responsible president will abandon.
– he said.
The more they pressure me, you and society, the sooner I will vote
– added the Belarusian dictator.
He tried to argue that there are currently few candidates due to the president’s workload.
People are starting to understand: being president in Belarus is a very difficult job! And not everyone will decide to do it, he said.
Lukashenko cynically added that “nowhere in the world are such open and fair” elections taking place as in Belarus.
Of course his words are pure manipulation, because he is the one who influences the election fraud. In 2020, following the announcement of the falsified results, Belarusians took part in peaceful protests in large numbers, but this was met with repression by the regime.
– Rigged elections. Tsikhanouskaya’s appeal: “We need your support.” The speech appeared on screens in Belarus!
—Michał Karnowski: Lukashenko and German politicians are happy with Tusk’s victory. If they are happy, we must be sad
— Lukashenko happy with Tusk’s electoral success: Bravo, Poland! I didn’t expect this option. The opposition came to power
