The former head of the presidential Office for International Policy, and currently Poland’s ambassador to China, praised the speech of UN Security Council Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski online. The Polish minister responded in New York to the allegations and lies of the Russian ambassador.
This is a must see. Slow, calm and straight to the point. At the UN Security Council, the Polish Foreign Minister addresses the Kremlin’s lies about Ukraine and Poland one by one
– wrote Jakub Kumoch, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to China and former head of the presidential BPM, commenting on the speech of Sikorski, who – which should not be forgotten – was once one of the faces of the reset politician in relations with Moscow.
Sikorski at the UN
On Friday, Sikorski appeared at the Security Council meeting on Ukraine on the occasion of the second anniversary of the Russian invasion and devoted his speech to refuting the positions previously expressed by Russia’s ambassador to the UN, Vasily Nebenzia, who – as he said – were amazing.
He calls Ukraine a client of the West. In fact, Kiev is fighting for its independence (…) He calls them Nazis. Well, their president is Jewish, their defense minister is Muslim and they have no political prisoners. He says Ukraine is wallowing in corruption. Well, Alexei Navalny has documented how clean and fair his country is. He blames the war on American neo-colonialism. In fact, it was Russia that tried to wipe out Ukraine in the 19th century, then the Bolsheviks did it, and now we have a third attempt.
– Sikorski pointed out to the Russian. He added that, contrary to Russian accusations of “Russophobia,” the fear of Russia is not irrational.
[Nebenzia] he said we were prisoners of Russophobia. Phobia means irrational fear. Meanwhile, almost every day we receive threats of nuclear annihilation from the former President of Russia (Dmitry Medvedev – PAP) and Putin’s propagandists. I would argue that this is not unreasonable
– said the minister. He also expressed outrage at the historical lies of the Russian diplomat, who accused Poland of attacking Russia during World War II and claimed that Russia had always defended itself alone against invasions and was invincible.
He even said that Poland attacked Russia in World War II? What is he talking about? It was the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany that attacked Poland on September 17, 1939. They even held a joint victory parade! He says that Russia has always only fought aggression. What were Soviet troops doing near Warsaw in 1920? Were they on a topographical expedition?
– said the minister. He added that Russia had suffered many failures, including: the Crimean War, the Polish-Bolshevik War, the Russo-Japanese War or the War in Afghanistan, but “fortunately after these defeats came reforms.”
What the ambassador succeeded in doing was reminding us why we resisted Soviet domination and why Ukraine is resisting now. They have not succeeded in subjugating us and they will not succeed in subduing Ukraine
– concluded Sikorski.
Earlier, the Russian ambassador went on a several-minute rant, blaming the United States and the West for the war. Even before the debate began, he insulted the heads of diplomacy of the European countries present in the room, calling them “people who call themselves foreign ministers” and claiming that they do not actually perform such a function because they do not pursue an independent policy. He also announced that he would not listen to their speeches.
Sikorski was among the foreign ministers who spoke during Friday’s debate. In addition to him, Russia was condemned by, among others: his British counterpart David Cameron, the head of the French Foreign Ministry Stephane Sejourne, the German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock and Ukraine’s Dmytro Kułeba, as well as the heads of the foreign ministries of South Korea. and Japan.
We can only be happy that Radosław Sikorski – who was previously one of the faces of the reset policy with Moscow – did not disgrace the UN.
