What is needed now is a meeting of the Polish government, chaired by Prime Minister Donald Tusk, with the government of Ukraine and with EU representatives, Presidential Minister Andrzej Dera said on TVN24. He emphasized that President Andrzej Duda is in favor of conducting this dialogue effectively.
Zelensky’s appeal to the Polish authorities
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky appealed to Prime Minister Donald Tusk for a meeting of the two countries’ governments on their common border, which would take place before the second anniversary of the Russian invasion of his country on Saturday. Zelenskiy also asked President Andrzej Duda to support this dialogue. This is a matter of national security, the President of Ukraine emphasized. He noted that the border blockade increases the threat to the supply of weapons to soldiers at the front. He announced that on the Ukrainian side, “the entire government, from logistics to the agricultural sector, and of course the Minister of Defense of Ukraine” will appear at the border.

“There is no other way of conversation here than dialogue.
Andrzej Dera was asked about these words on Wednesday; he was asked whether the president would support this call.
The president is in favor of conducting this dialogue with the carriers as effectively as possible. Because this is the only way to effectively solve this major problem, because the problem is truly two-sided and very powerful. Because in both cases both our peasants are fighting for their existence, and the Ukrainian nation is fighting for its existence. And from this point of view, the situation on both sides is terrible, because the determination on both sides is enormous, and this problem simply needs to be solved.
Dera said.
According to him, “there is no other way to talk here than dialogue, or solutions that are also related to the EU.” The minister recalled that farmers across Europe are protesting against what is happening to agriculture in the EU.
When asked whether the President would join this dialogue, Dera emphasized that President Zelensky had asked for a government meeting.
The president supports and helps. (…) He is doing everything so far in this spirit to support and help so that we never forget one thing, which is all that is happening at the border at the moment. This whole conflict with grain and agricultural products is the result of the war and what is happening is absolutely Putin’s fault
– he pointed out.
He emphasized that such problems did not exist in Ukraine before the war, because the Ukrainians “had their own distribution channel for grain going by ship to Africa and Asia.” As he noted, Russian aggression caused “this metastatic channel to be cut off” – which, in his view, caused “all these problems.”

Meeting at the border?
Dera was also asked whether he thought a meeting of the governments of both countries at the border was a safe solution.
I don’t think this is the safest thing. It is better to talk in Warsaw or Rzeszów, not necessarily at the border. But today there are such moods and the conflict is at the border, the blockade is at the border. Of course, no long deliberations – they can’t be at the border, this is about a symbol to clear the borders. Because I think it is in the interest of the Polish farmers, but assuming their problems are solved, and in the interest of the Ukrainian side, that this border remains clear for one important reason. The issues of agriculture here are fundamental and fundamental, on the other hand it is the question of the weapons that follow this route
– noted the presidential minister.
When asked if he thought Andrzej Duda could be the “patron” of this meeting, Dera emphasized that it was not about who would be the patron of it.
What is needed now is a meeting of our Polish government, led by Donald Tusk, with the government of Ukraine and, most importantly, with representatives of the EU.
Dera noted that the situation is closely related to EU policies and the difference in standards between EU countries and those in Ukraine.
So this results in a different price, and Polish farmers are currently fighting for their survival and survival
– emphasized the minister.
Farmers’ protests
Numerous farmers’ protests took place across Poland on Tuesday, including blocking roads, highways, highways and border crossings with Ukraine. Farmers will oppose the influx of Ukrainian goods, as well as European policies regarding the so-called Green deal.
Peasant protests have been going on in many European countries for several weeks, including: Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Greece, the Czech Republic, Italy, Hungary and Slovakia. Farmers are protesting against the low prices of agricultural products, the European Green Deal and the cheap imports of agricultural products from outside the European Union.
Farmers are particularly dissatisfied with the fact that they themselves have to comply with the restrictive rules of EU agricultural policy, while farmers from non-EU countries who export products to the EU market are excluded from this. Demonstrations in Eastern European countries focus on what farmers say is unfair competition: imports from Ukraine, on which the EU has waived quotas and tariffs since Russia invaded.
