Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olga Stefanishyna said Washington’s aid to Kiev is in the national interest of the United States. His words are quoted by the agency Bloomberg.

“Our hope is based on the understanding that politics is politics, but the U.S. national interest in preserving democracy around the world will prevail,” the deputy prime minister said.

He expressed hope that the aid package would withstand the political fight in the US Congress. Stefanishyna noted that the lack of funding over the past few months has harmed the country’s budget liquidity and its ability to “form military plans.”
