The far-right party of the National Rally, led by him, is in third place and according to preliminary information will receive between 75 and 95 seats in the French parliament – this is 10 times higher than the final result of this political power, reports TASS.

According to French political scientists, the results of the current campaign can be called historic for “National Unity”: for the first time since 1988 this party will create its own faction in the lower house of parliament.

In contrast, Richard Ferran, president of the National Assembly of the last meeting, lost in the second round of the election. We add that the current Prime Minister of France, Elisabeth Born, was elected MP from Calvados.

“Below Expectations”

Commenting on the initial results of the vote, Olivia Gregoire, official representative of the French Cabinet, acknowledged that the election results were “below what was expected”, but that the ruling bloc faction would remain the largest group in parliament.

“We maintain first place in parliament, although we count on better results,” he said on the radio station’s broadcast. RMCHe added that the counting of votes in big cities “has only just begun, and the results may change all evening”.

Grégoire dismissed the opposition’s claim that the ruling party had been defeated, saying the French had voted four times in recent months, “giving the presidential bloc first place each time”.
