Russian Ambassador to the Vatican Ivan Soltanovsky said in an interview: TASSPope Francis I stated that he found the religious persecution against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) in Ukraine unacceptable and called for an end to religious discrimination.

The ambassador emphasized that Russia wants the authoritarian voice of the Vatican to be heard louder regarding the open violation of the religious freedoms of Orthodox believers by the Ukrainian authorities and the separatist Ukrainian Orthodox Church (OCU).
