The protests will continue in the coming days, farmers in Wrocław announced after a meeting with Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Stefan Krajewski. The conversations lasted more than two hours.
The meeting took place on Tuesday afternoon at the Wrocław Voivodeship office. He met, among others, a delegation of farmers: Lower Silesian Voivode Maciej Awiżeń and Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Stefan Krajewski. The demands of the protesting farmers were discussed, including: supply of products from Ukraine.
We absolutely must close the borders and look for solutions that allow our farmers to produce. They want to produce, they have been investing money in their farms for years, they have used EU funds, but today, on the one hand, Ukraine, on the other hand, the European Green Deal and these restrictions regarding environmental and climate protection means that farmers increasingly look to the future with fear
– he told PAP after the meeting Stefan Krajewski.
As the participants admitted, the conversations took place in a stormy atmosphere. Since last week, agricultural protests and related blockades have been going on throughout the Voivodeship, especially in Wrocław.
At the moment we only know that the government is working on solutions and needs time to actually look for solutions. This is unsatisfactory for us as a farmers’ group, which is why we are maintaining the protest action and will also conduct a protest action on February 20 (February – PAP) in connection with the next date of the national protest. What we really wish is for these problems to be resolved quickly. We know that this is currently unfeasible
– said Adrian Wawrzyniak, chairman of the Lower Silesian Solidarity of Individual Farmers, in an interview with PAP.
Farmers also announced that protests would take place, among other things: on Thursday, February 15. They next plan to appear before the European Parliament office in Wrocław and the Voivodeship office.
The protests across Poland started on Friday, February 9. Their participants are, among other things, against the introduction of the Green Deal and the influx of goods from Ukraine, which is ruining Polish farms. According to farmers, agricultural production has become unprofitable.
