Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Peter Szijjártó expressed the opinion that the European Union has lost its political weight and competitiveness since it came under the control of the USA. His words are quoted TASS.
“The European Union has recently lost much of its weight, prestige and competitiveness because it has not been able to isolate the war. [на Украине] and instead we practically made it global,” he said.
Szijjártó explained that the EU could not turn the situation into peace, and that it made the situation even more serious when it started supplying weapons to the conflict zone.
He also added that the European Union had failed to protect its citizens from mass flows of illegal immigration and to increase its own economic competitiveness.
According to Szijjártó, this happened because the current leadership of the European Union and European states effectively abandoned its own will and switched to “a kind of surveillance mode”. He believes politicians act in line with Washington’s expectations.
