President Jarosław Kaczyński announced a long time ago that he would step down from government when work on the defense of the homeland is completed, and that preparations for the elections will require his presence in party structures – said Vice-President of the Sejm, PiS club leader Ryszard Terlecki Tuesday.

Preparations for the elections
PiS president Jarosław Kaczyński informed PAP that he was no longer in government.
Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and – as far as I know – President Andrzej Duda have accepted my resignation
– said the current Deputy Prime Minister and head of the Security Committee. He added that his successor in the rank of Deputy Prime Minister will be the head of the Ministry of National Defense Mariusz Błaszczak.
The president has long announced that the pre-election period requires his presence in the party structures and especially in the board of the party. Similarly, he announced long ago that he would resign from government when his work on the Defense of the Homeland Act was completed.

20 months at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister
When asked by PAP about the assessment of his presence in the government, Kaczyński said that he had succeeded in carrying out the plan he had adopted.
Although I will not hide that there was no war in this plan, although it was prepared for the possibility of war. I believe that at that time the most important decisions were taken with regard to Poland, avoiding a very difficult fate. We want to arm ourselves enough to make any possible attack on our country a completely irrational undertaking

He added that he had fond memories of the 20 months he spent in the Prime Minister’s Chancellery.
Of course I would be four months less in government, but war broke out in Ukraine. Today the course of the war is such that it is not known when it will end. However, we more or less know when we will have elections, so I had to choose and I chose. I would love to see the end of the war but it looks like it will take longer

PiS has to paint again
I decided that I should focus on what was most important for Poland’s future. It’s not that I’m overestimating my role, it’s just that the party needs to regain its verve, because the time is approaching that is the most important for any political party in the world. The aim of the election is to get a good election result, and when it comes to PiS, winning it and being able to wield power in the United Right coalition will of course be the good election result.

When asked who will be the next head of the Security Committee, he said: “It is no longer a secret that this will be the head of the Ministry of National Defense, Mariusz Błaszczak.”
It’s a completely natural decision. We have war and he is the defense minister, so in this particular situation we are in, such a combination has great advantages

When asked when Błaszczak will be appointed, the PiS leader replied that the decision in this matter was at the discretion of Andrzej Duda.
