I invited the President of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu, to an official visit to Poland; Bilateral visits by presidents contribute most to strengthening economic ties because they open markets to mutual investment, President Andrzej Duda said in Tanzania. He also recalled that during World War II, several thousand Polish refugees found refuge in this African country.
This is the very first visit of a Polish president to Tanzania. Duda met with the country’s leader, Samia Suluhu, on Friday.
Investments in Tanzania
The president said further Polish tourism investments can be expected in Zanzibar and mainland Tanzania.
A large group of Polish entrepreneurs are also interested in cooperation in the field of modern industry and economy – for example, in areas such as intelligent urban infrastructure, water management, creating a modern electronic banking system or all information, IT and telecommunications technologies.

We have a number of companies in Poland that are absolute leaders in the European Union and in the world in these sectors – such as the Polish company Asseco, which is active in the field of cybersecurity

Polish-Tanzanian cooperation
The President expressed hope for closer cooperation between Poland and Tanzania in the fields of agriculture and education.
One of the Polish companies is considering carrying out tasks in the agricultural sector in Tanzania, and another is interested in modern LED lighting for public places – street lighting, modern production of which could take place in Tanzania

We talked about this offer today. I think that it will be seriously considered and that this collaboration will eventually take on new colors

The President of Tanzania pointed out that “this visit demonstrates the continued strengthening of cooperation and friendship between our countries.”
Poland is an extremely important partner within the European Union. Poland is among the 10 countries from which the most tourists come to us. In addition, Poland contributes to various development projects in our country, including various industrial sectors
– she said.
Development of the Polish economy
Poland is the 21st largest economy in the world, so it’s a huge economy. We also hope that Poland also values Tanzania as a partner in Africa with which it can deepen economic relations, Samia Suluhu emphasizes.
Andrzej Duda also assured that due to the good economic situation in Poland, we can expect that there will be even more Polish tourists who will come to Tanzania and Zanzibar for leisure purposes.

Polish refugees in Tanzania
President Duda recalled that during World War II, 7,000 Polish refugees, mainly women with children, came to Tanzania.
Poland was subsequently occupied by Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia. From the depths of Soviet Russia, these people who had been freed from slavery by Stalin came here. They were mainly women and children, looking for a way to live a peaceful life. They were welcomed by the people of Tanzania, for which we remain grateful
