House Speaker Mike Johnson, Republican Majority Leader Steve Scalise, Republican Coordinator Tom Emmer and Party Chair Elise Stefanik said in a joint statement that Republicans oppose the immigration bill because it fails in every area of regulation needed to ensure the security of the US border. It will only increase illegal immigration.
