El Salvador’s current President, Nayib Bukele, announced a landslide victory in the country’s presidential elections. The New Ideas party he leads also won the parliamentary elections. This was reported by TASS.
According to Bukele, he won the presidential election with 85 percent of the votes. Additionally, the New Ideas Party won at least 58 of the 60 seats in the country’s parliament.
Bukele called these results “a record in the history of democracy in the whole world.”
The country’s Supreme Electoral Court is currently processing data from the polls. The results will be announced in the coming hours. According to exit polls, the country’s current president received 87% of the vote.
