The Namibian President’s office said the country’s third president, Hage Gottfried Geingob, died on February 4 at the age of 82. This has been reported X Nambia Presidential office.
“It is with great sadness and sadness that I inform you that our President Geingob of the Republic of Namibia passed away today, Sunday, 4 February 2024, at around 00:04 (23:04 GMT) in Lady Pohamba. He is in the hospital where he is being treated. He was accompanied by his beloved wife, Madame Monica Geingos, and their children,” says the publication.
The Nambia Presidential office emphasized that the medical team did everything possible to ensure the president’s recovery, but despite all the efforts of experts, the president died.
The release was signed by Nambia Vice President and currently acting head of state Nangolo Mbuba.
He emphasized that the Namibian people had lost “an outstanding servant of the people, an icon of the liberation struggle, the chief architect of our constitution and a pillar of the Namibian house.”
Mbuba appealed to people to remain calm and cool while the government undertakes all necessary government activities, preparations and other protocols.
