Sikorski, emotionally devastated by Wysocka-Schnepf, you know what, discovered: “We have really inspired the democrats in Europe and the world again.”
Radosław Sikorski, once again Minister of Foreign Affairs, is becoming increasingly boring. On the other hand, what should he say when the government in which he participates repeatedly breaks the law, and what’s more, with the disgusting smiles of some of its most important figures. Sikorski was so colorless in his interview with “Gazeta Wyborcza” (for the weekend of February 3-4, 2024) that the host of the interview, Dorota Wysocka-Schnepf, decided to add some color to him.
The problem with Wysocka-Schnepf is that her husband, Ryszard Schnepf, just returned to work at the State Department. And no matter what the woman does, she finds herself in an ambiguous situation when she talks to her husband’s supervisor. After all, he can tell the minister that her husband will gain “positive benefits” as a result (note to Borys Budka: this is not a language error, but a statement by Lech Wałęsa). Or maybe he doesn’t discuss an uncomfortable topic, what happened. So there is a conflict of interest here and the conversation with the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs must be conducted by someone else. But who would care about standards there?
Although the conversation is extensive, there is little to quote that would be meaningful or funny. It couldn’t be funny, because Sikorski only knows barracks jokes. The significance of this conversation is that it was had and Sikorski said “something.” “Something” is sufficient characterization. For example, he said, “It seems that the pastors were more concerned with election campaigns than with work.” It is not worth being embarrassed in Chobielin, for example, by the great work done by the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Arkadiusz Mularczyk, on Germany’s reparations. Or the scope and level of work of another deputy minister – Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk. The difference between the ministers Sikorski and Zbigniew Rau is easily recognized by the fact that Sergei Lavrov was afraid of Rau, and Sikorski invited him to a lecture before Polish diplomats and treated him as a sage.
In one case, the gentleman from Chobielin was reserved: ‘I have the impression that the previous government (…) demonized the outsourcing system. Most Schengen countries use outsourcing. (…) Visas were traded and that did not happen on such a large scale.” The reason is simple: Sikorski introduced the outsourcing system and this immediately began to create pathologies that required buying better places in line to talk to the consul. Buy from outsourcing companies. When Wysocka-Schnepf struck “like a forester against a pine tree” that “the criteria for selecting personnel in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have been significantly lowered in recent years, nepotism and cronyism have prevailed,” Sikorski muttered that “we have abolished meritocracy to recover. .” How could it be otherwise, now that a meritocracy like Ryszard Schnepf returns to the ministry.
The current head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs complained that “the PiS government lowered the language proficiency criteria for recruitment to the diplomatic service.” So let’s challenge Sikorski. Let him appoint at least one ‘his’ diplomat who, in terms of knowledge of languages and the substantive nature of their use, would be at least a million light years closer to Ambassadors Marek Magierowski (currently Washington) or Jakub Kumoch (currently Beijing). ), appointed under the previous government.
Ryszard Schnepf’s wife had to throw the ball to Anne Applebaum’s husband when it came to Germany (“sometimes you have to, otherwise you suffocate”): “PiS has probably ruined relations with Germany the most of all European countries.” And his wife’s husband immediately revived: “He ruined that understatement.” And he revealed a big secret: during secret meetings with Jarosław Kaczyński, Angela Merkel and Germany “wanted Poland to be included as a representative of our region in the close-knit group that manages the work of the European Union. And what happened? President Kaczyński rejected it. He did not take advantage of the economic situation that allowed Poland to move up the hierarchy of nations as a representative of the region. What was more important to him was the opportunity to bash the Germans and Tusk in the Polish right-wing media.
And it is immediately clear that the great diplomat from Chobielin does not understand anything. Poland had the position of leader in the region, which was appreciated, for example, for the Three Seas initiative – from Berlin to Washington. And even Berlin wanted to join the Three Seas Initiative (thanks to Poland it was given partner country status). Warsaw did not want and could not be Germany’s lackey. After all, there would be no participation in governing the EU, and Berlin only wanted to vassalize us by promising pears. It would end up misleading the real allies of the Three Seas and the Visegrad Group in exchange for some form of delusion, because they would think that Poland would let itself be bought by the Germans and behave absolutely selfishly.
Sikorski’s weakness in talks with German authorities becomes visible after he explained what a “creative solution to the issue of compensation” would be. [za ogromne straty poniesione podczas niemieckiej agresji i okupacji]. His wife’s husband replied: “Let’s wait for the German proposals.” So let’s wait for the leftovers from your table.
Sometimes it was difficult to read the trivial questions from Ryszard Schnepf’s wife: “You are known like few other Polish politicians in the circles of American politicians, including Republican ones.” He may be famous, but not necessarily appreciated – after the fights he organized for Americans and played the role of master of the world. And it soon became apparent that the ‘known’ would be crawled through. He was supposed to go to Washington from February 6 to 11, 2024, but Secretary of State Antony Blinken was suddenly overwhelmed by urgent tasks and did not find time for the “famous.”
Only Ryszard Schnepf’s wife had to tell a story about how “the Western world said goodbye with relief to the anti-EU, anti-democratic rule of PiS and welcomed the new Polish government with open arms.” And Sikorski, emotionally devastated by doing such a thing, said: ‘We have really inspired democrats in Europe and around the world again with the fact that you can still win against populists – who have taken over the media and state-owned companies, have abused secret services and the public prosecutor’s office to engage in politics. “It really emboldened the Democrats.” Probably those who are oppressed in Germany, France, Spain, Canada or even the US. And it turned out that even talking between gloomy people can be funny. And with as much pomp and circumstance as Szymon Hołownia’s performances.
