The Central Election Commission (CEC) of the Russian Federation detected deficiencies in the documents submitted by environmental activist Anatoly Batashev and beauty blogger Rada Russkikh for registration as candidates in the upcoming presidential elections. The statement states that Batashev and Russkikh did not hand over to experts the protocols on the results of collecting voter signatures. Moreover, in both cases, CEC members did not receive lists of persons involved in collecting voter signatures and documents confirming payment for the production of signature sheets.

“The Central Election Commission of Russia sent notifications to Anatoly Batashev and the Russian Rada about the deficiencies identified in the documents they submitted,” the publication said.

The next presidential elections in the Russian Federation will be held between 15 and 17 March 2024. To date, the signature documents have been brought to the CEC by the current president of the country, Vladimir Putin, the head of the Communists of Russia group, Sergei Malinkovich, and the candidate of the Civil Initiative group, Boris Nadezhdin. Also submitting documents were Russian beauty blogger Rada and self-nominated candidate Anatoly Batashev.
