Armenia officially joined the International Criminal Court (ICC) on February 1 RIA News.

Thus, Armenia became the 124th state party to the International Criminal Court and the 19th state among Eastern European countries.

On November 14 last year, Armenia officially carried Document ratification of the Rome Statute and only had to wait for it to come into force on February 1, 2024.

It was also learned that the Head of the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ararat Mirzoyan, informed the ICC secretariat on November 15 that Armenia would recognize the court’s jurisdiction retroactively as of May 10, 2021.

On October 3, the Armenian parliament approved the Rome Statute at its meeting. While 60 MPs voted in favor of approving the statute and accepting the application for retroactive recognition of the ICC’s jurisdiction, 22 MPs voted against it. After approval, the document was signed by the president of the country.
