Bulgaria will pay compensation to the last king

The Bulgarian government decided to pay compensation to the former prime minister and the country’s last king, Simeon of Saxe-Coburg Gotha, within the scope of the decision of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR). The court found that the property rights of Simeon of Saxe-Coburg Gotha had been violated and awarded him compensation in the amount of 1,635,875 euros, it writes TASS.

Returning to Bulgaria in 1989, Simeon Borisov from Saxe-Coburg and Gotha founded the “Simeon II” National Movement and became Prime Minister of Bulgaria in 2001. He remained in this post until 2005, and his party was in the ruling coalition until 2009.
