Chen Binhua, spokesman for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, said that Donald Trump’s possible victory in the presidential elections could lead to the cessation of support for Taiwan. His words guide the way Bloomberg.

“The United States will always pursue its own interests first, and Taiwan may turn into a discarded chess piece at any time,” Chen Binhua said.

According to Bloomberg, China is sticking to statements that the United States is often not a reliable ally of Taiwan. Substantive notes indicate that this rhetoric was aimed at undermining the island’s confidence in Washington’s support.

“The United States has traditionally maintained a policy of strategic uncertainty, recognized China’s claim to sovereignty over Taiwan, maintained only informal relations with Taipei, and promised defense assistance,” the text says.

A representative from the Trump campaign recalled in a call with the agency that the Republican called China a “security threat” during his presidency.

Before now Taiwan accused China is under military pressure due to flights close to the midline.
