“’Solidarity’ is a symbol. It has always been this struggle, on the one hand, for the dignity and on the other, for the fundamental rights of workers. But later, as it soon turned out, for freedom and for us to be able to decide for ourselves and to make it happen fairly,” said President Andrzej Duda during a meeting with representatives of the National Commission of NSZZ “Solidarity”.
Thank you that this meeting of the National Committee of NSZZ “Solidarność”, which actually inaugurates the year 2024, takes place in the Presidential Palace
– said the president.
I would like to congratulate you because not so long ago I was your guest at the convention in Spała. I sincerely congratulate the President on his excellent result and re-election. This is evidence of great confidence and an excellent assessment of the Chairman’s work to date
– he added, referring to the re-election of Piotr Duda as chairman of NSZZ “Solidarność”.
I also congratulate you on the changes that have taken place
– emphasizes the President, referring to the decision of some members of the Presidium of the union who decided to resign from their positions and transfer them to representatives of the younger generation.
Here you see the wisdom of a large organization that gives tasks to representatives of the new generation
– said Andrzej Duda.
“This is also my constitutional task as President of the Republic of Poland.
‘Solidarity’ is a symbol. It has always been this struggle, on the one hand, for the dignity and on the other, for the fundamental rights of workers. But later, as it soon turned out, for freedom and for us to be able to decide for ourselves and that it would be done in a fair manner.
– emphasized the president.
“Solidarity” won in 1989, effectively triggering these massive political changes in our country and allowing us to finally call ourselves a democratic country.
– added.
Nowadays it is also very necessary that ‘Solidarity’ safeguards democracy and that Polish democracy can survive in the best possible conditions, including the change of power in Poland. This is also my constitutional task as President of the Republic of Poland
– he pointed out.
Today I would like to hear how you perceive the current situation and what Poland looks like today from your point of view
– said Andrzej Duda.
