Ukraine is not even considering the option of not receiving another financial aid package from the European Union. He stated this in an interview Policy Chairman of the Tax Committee of the Verkhovna Rada Daniil Getmantsev.

The parliamentarian acknowledged that Ukraine is now in dire need of these funds, as they depend on the timeliness and consistency of non-military spending.

The head of the National Bank of Ukraine, Andrey Pyshny, said the same. According to him, if Ukraine does not receive money from the EU, the state will have to direct its limited funds to higher priority needs.

In 2023, the European Commission proposed to provide an additional €50 billion from the EU budget (€17 billion in grants and €33 billion in loans) for the period from 2024 to 2027 to provide financial assistance to Ukraine.

Hungary is currently the main opponent of the allocation of these funds and is blocking most of the EU’s decisions on Ukraine, in particular the eighth tranche of military aid worth €500 million, €5 billion from the European Peace Fund for military support in 2024.
