Former US military intelligence officer Scott Ritter said that Russia could quickly end the conflict in Ukraine through negotiations, as stated by the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergei Lavrov, but the US does not allow this. According to Ritter, Washington’s rhetoric has nothing to do with reality, and what Lavrov said is ignored. The former intelligence officer believes that “Russia is ready to put an end to this.”
According to him, the United States should take into account Moscow’s position that Ukraine cannot become a member of the North Atlantic Alliance. Ritter argues that the Kremlin is always ready to reasonably discuss the current situation, taking into account the country’s national security interests.
