Russia has not received an official proposal to hold Russia-Ukraine negotiations in the Vatican. This was reported by RIA News Russian Ambassador to the Vatican Ivan Soltanovsky.
As Soltanovsky stated, the Russian side is aware of the media reports on this issue.
“However, to date, the Russian side has not received any official proposals to conduct such negotiations,” he said, emphasizing that he has no doubts about Pope Francis’ desire to achieve peace in Ukraine.
The diplomat noted that Moscow traditionally maintains regular contacts with the Vatican and they did not stop with the start of the military operation.
According to him, the Papal Throne is well aware of Russia’s position on Ukraine and ways to resolve the conflict.
January 15, President of the World Union of Old Believers Leonid Sevastyanov stated RIA Novosti said that the Pope is studying the possibility of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine in the Vatican.
