Member of Parliament for Law and Justice from Koszalin, former Deputy Minister of the Interior and Administration Paweł Shefernaker he spoke yesterday during the demonstration of free Poles Radom arrestwhere the MP is being held Mariusz Kaminski. Chefnaker has worked with for many years Maciej Wasik and Mariusz Kamiński. As he said, he never doubted that they were patriots, people who fought for a better Poland. He stressed the need to reach Poland with the truth about imprisoned politicians, including passing it on three pieces of evidence that they are political prisoners, that it is a political issue.
First of all, a draconian punishment just for being PiS politicians. Such judgments are not made in these types of situations. Even if we assume that the gentlemen should have had a case in court – although I would like to remind you that the case was dropped at first instance and later reopened for political reasons – there are no such rulings! I would like to remind you that the court of second instance later overturned most of the statements of the court of first instance. Nevertheless, absolute imprisonment was imposed.
Remember: such rulings do not exist in this kind of case in Poland. If Messrs. Kamiński and Wąsik were not Law and Justice politicians, such a judgment would not exist. This is a political judgment.
The gathered people responded by chanting the slogan: “Free political prisoners!”
Paweł Naszaernaker continued:
The second argument: not taking into account President Andrzej Duda’s pardon in 2015. Until then, no one questioned the fact that the president had the right to pardon at every stage of the procedure. No one! And suddenly, when the case of two Law and Justice politicians appeared, something that had previously been clearly written in all academic textbooks began to be questioned. And this verdict is political and the prisoners are also political because the president’s act of pardon was not taken into account, because the president is from PiS and the politicians are from PiS.
The former deputy head of the Ministry of the Interior and Public Administration then turned to evidence three.
Third evidence: a political manhunt to arrest them. I’ve talked to a lot of police officers. No one has seen such a manhunt at the Warsaw police headquarters as the one organized against MPs Kamiński and Wąsik. This was only done for political reasons, to politically demonstrate their detention on that exact day.
This issue is political. Let’s go to the people and talk about it: first, the draconian sentence, second, the president’s mercy was not taken into account, third, the political manhunt. The issue is political, they are political prisoners and we will protest until they are released from prison
– rounded.
Despite the frost, several hundred people took part in the demonstration.
