The Commission of Inquiry into Voting by Mail in the 2020 Presidential Election is attracting public attention for a number of reasons. Some MPs drew attention to the behavior of KO MP Magdalena Filiks. What did she mean when she said, ‘Do you know what the difference is? We don’t do that…” and demonstrate how we “don’t do that”?
Yesterday’s meeting of the Commission of Inquiry on postal voting in the 2020 presidential elections, described as “envelope elections” by some media and politicians of the current parliamentary majority, caused a wave of reactions on social media. Internet users commented, among other things: on the testimony of former MP Michał Wypij, who attacked the former head of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration Mariusz Kamiński (unlawfully detained, meaning his ability to respond to these accusations is drastically limited ), but also Artur Soboń, former minister and member of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, and last member of the NBP Board of Directors, who answered most of the questions: “I have answered everything I had to say about the matter raised at the hearing is included in the discretionary portion of my statement.”
The behavior of KO MP Magdalena Filiks also attracted the attention of both parliamentarians sitting on the committee and internet users. The politician tried to play the role of an amateur psychologist by “analyzing” Soboń’s body language – her interest was aroused by the former minister’s “leg wobbling under the table”, which, according to Filiks, was supposed to reveal the witness’s nervousness.
She also addressed Artur Soboń with the following words:
Do you know what the difference is? We don’t do that…
– and then demonstrated how ‘we don’t do that’.
““A real adventure”
The parliamentarian’s behavior led to numerous reactions.
Working together in the research committee with @FiliksMagdalena is a real adventure
I watched about 10 minutes of this committee meeting. When this lady @sobonartur asked questions, 10 minutes too much wasted time. When I remember the level of the so-called commission for Rywin… Oh, it all goes to the dogs.
Actually, a psychiatrist should enter parliament.
Ms. @FiliksMagdalena (PO), I have a question: do you behave like this every day?
They will be surprised, very surprised, if they lose power.
The explanation is probably simple: it appears that Filiks simply “parodied” the witness’s behavior.
The only question is whether the investigative committee is the right place to present your acting skills and whether it is appropriate to joke about someone’s movements, which – hypothetically – could be caused by, for example, health problems?
