US President Joe Biden signed a legislative initiative previously approved by both houses of Congress to fund US departments through early March, the White House said. This was reported by CNN.
The bill signed by Biden provides federal appropriations for fiscal year 2024 (beginning October 1, 2023), the publication notes.
The White House emphasized that the initiative envisages the extension of funding for some structures of the country’s federal government until March 1, and for others until March 8.
Before this, the United States Congress approved A project to extend funding for the country’s ministries until March 2024 – thus avoiding another shutdown of the United States.
In the United States, the term “shutdown” refers to the forced cessation of the work of government agencies facing a lack of funding. In such a situation, public employees who perform critical duties for the country are forced to work without pay.
Previously White House stated about the need to prepare for the shutdown.
