Lot’s wife, turned into a pillar of salt, can become a symbol of all those who heard in disbelief from the mouth of the European Commission spokesman Eric Mamer when he was asked about the issues surrounding the detention of Mariusz Kamiński and Maciej Wąsik: “we will not comment on specific events in the Member States “EU”.
Taking into account the many years of lecturing, disciplining and threatening Poland with financial sanctions in matters falling within the exclusive competence of a Member State, by Eurocrats in the form of various Commissioners, Members of the European Parliament from liberal-socialist factions and more than forty resolutions of the European Parliament lashing Poland under the rule of the right, the astonishment of people who believed that they were guided only by ‘European values’ and safeguarded the ‘rule of law’; the fact that this mechanism for grilling Poland was disabled is understandable.
Those who warned that these were actions aimed at changing the government in Poland and, as a result, subordinating and, to a large extent, limiting Poland’s sovereignty in favor of the future Central European state under the Germany’s ‘moral’ and economic leadership, may experience very bitter satisfaction and disappointment because this was not the case. They were listened to and no restrictive measures were taken to prevent this.
Lashing out at European Parliament resolutions
When the European Commission intervened in Poland’s internal affairs, it always did so under the banner of respecting the “rule of law” as it understood it, and its special interest was in the organization of the judiciary in our country, including although it did not have treaty authorizations. to do that. Therefore, everything was carried out under the slogan of ‘European law’ and its supremacy over national law. One of the most scandalous interferences in Poland’s internal affairs is the letter from EU Justice Commissioner Didier Reynders to Prime Minister Morawiecki, asking him to raise his question about the supremacy of the Polish Constitution over EU law at the Constitutional Court to withdraw. And although there were rulings by constitutional tribunals, including: Germany, France, Czech Republic, Spain, Italy and Lithuania, declaring the superiority of the national constitutional order over EU law, only Poland was a ‘black nation’, which continually was threatened with consequences if he did not accept the EC’s approach.
Although more than forty European Parliament resolutions against Poland have been adopted since the right wing came to power, they had no legal force, but in their conclusions often demanded action from the European Commission, for example by blocking funds from the EU budget, mainly from the KPO. And it was the resolutions that brutally interfered with what was a “specific event” in the Member States. It is sufficient to mention two “specific” examples, although there are many more. Parliament was not happy with the “lex TVN”, a bill that prohibits capital from outside the European Economic Area from having a majority stake in Polish media. And while these kinds of restrictions are applied in EU countries, for example in France, which cannot own more than 20%, there are cries that the Polish government wants to muzzle the media, undermine press freedom and ‘kill’ a group of people . television station that doesn’t like it. Now that another government has ‘killed’ a channel it does not like, silence screams in the Brussels salons. The second example: a request in the EP resolution to withdraw the law establishing a commission to investigate Russian interference in Poland’s internal security in the period 2007-2022, because, according to the authors, it is aimed against the leader of the then opposition, Donald Tusk.
Weber is happy with the arrests because Tusk ‘introduces the rule of law’.
The arrest and imprisonment of two leaders of the current opposition, as well as members of the Sejm protected by immunity, do not impress the Brussels elites at all. On the contrary, Manfred Weber, head of the European People’s Party, who took over this position after Tusk and is also the leader of the largest group in the European Parliament, welcomed the detention of Mariusz Kamiński and Maciej Wąsik and stated that they were sent to prison. the steps aimed at restoring the “rule of law” in Poland. “We support the actions of the Polish government,” Weber said.
Jacek Saryusz-Wolski wrote on social media:
The support of the head of the EPP and the EPP group in the European Parliament is of great and significant importance. The attack on the constitutional bodies of the Polish state began with the undermining of the National Council of the Judiciary, the Supreme Court and the Constitutional Court by the European Commission and the European Court of Justice, and the actions of the Tusk government are a continuation of this.
Weber’s joy is hardly surprising. Finally, the European Parliament, the European Commission and finally the CJEU can breathe a sigh of relief that they no longer have to interfere in Polish affairs. The man from Brussels and Berlin will figure it out for them (although the Russian press once wrote that he is their man, but you can compromise – let him rotate) and without white gloves, and the advice of one of the Polish left- The fact that the wing members of the European Parliament treat Poland like a screaming nest and have been kicked out is slowly turning into a grim reality, despite the challenging announcements from the coalition on December 13 that our country will only now start dealing the cards in the EU .
