After the Christmas ceremony, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he brought the icon of martyr Elizabeth Romanov from New York along with a piece of her holy relics. This was reported by RIA News.
According to the head of state, the icon with the remains of the princess was presented to him as a gift by the archbishop of a foreign church in New York.
“I brought him here, put him in his house, and I didn’t immediately realize he was back in his house. “This is his home, he lived here,” he said.
Putin explained that the icon had been in his house in Novo-Ogarevo all this time, but then he moved it to a church on the territory of the president’s residence near Moscow.
“And this church was their home church,” Putin concluded.
Putin celebrated Christmas in his home church in Novo-Ogarevo. The President attended the ceremony together with family members of the Heroes of Russia who participated in the military operation in Ukraine.
