The former head of the Ministry of Energy and Technology assessed in RMF FM the main challenges facing the Chairman of the Sejm before the next session. “He must control the situation that will arise on January 10 and 11. (…) The marshal was overwhelmed by this situation. I don’t want to predict what will happen,” says Waldemar Buda (PiS).
Buda was asked what could happen during the Sejm session starting on Wednesday if Mariusz Kamiński and Maciej Wąsik cannot enter the meeting room. Yesterday, the head of the Sejm Chancellery, Jacek Cichocki, issued an order deactivating their parliamentary cards. Wąsik stated on Telewizja Republika that he and Kamiński are parliamentarians and will go to the next session of the Sejm.
The PiS MP stated that there has never been a marshal who would block an MP’s access to work.
It is difficult to predict the situation and the emotions associated with it. The Marshal is responsible for the security, peace and normal functioning of Parliament. The question is whether she will bear this burden. He must control the situation that will arise on January 10 and 11. (…)The marshal was overwhelmed by this situation. Buda said.
To the comment that according to Marshal Hołownia’s statement for “Newsweek” he was threatened with an alternative session of the Sejm in the column hall, Buda replied: “we are not planning this kind of activity, we are a serious and substantive opposition. .”
The marshal’s role is to get out of this situation. He annulled the decision on the expiry of the mandates. He has to deal with it and look for a compromise. He must meet with the club presidents, convene the presidency and seek a conciliatory solution to the issue.

““Blind decision maker”
The second reading of the draft budget law for 2024 is scheduled for January 10. The budget is due on the president’s desk on January 29.
When asked if there was a possibility to block the budget and thus announce early elections by the president, Buda replied that President Andrzej Duda was examining the situation.
We are not planning such a scenario (early elections, PAP) at all, but I understand the President who says that there must be order and behavior in accordance with the law, that is, based on laws and legal regulations.

Marshal Hołownia decided that he would be a blind executor of the decisions (Prime Minister, PAP) of Donald Tusk, and he changed his office to departments of Tusk’s parliamentary office. (…)We expect the Marshal to think more broadly and horizontally, that is to say, that he fulfills a function that obliges him to bring peace and order to the state. And he cannot make a decision that is so controversial that it gives rise to further consequences, because in politics we count not only legal consequences, but also political ones. Even the ones that may not be obvious. He will be responsible for the situation where a difficult situation may arise in the Sejm on January 11 or on January 10.

The Chamber of Labor and Social Security of the Supreme Court received appeals from Maciej Wąsik and Mariusz Kamiński against the Marshal’s decision to terminate their mandate, sent by the Chairman of the Sejm, Szymon Hołownia. The day before yesterday, the Labor Chamber of the Supreme Court, regarding Wąsik’s dismissal, decided to transfer the case to the Chamber for Extraordinary Control and Public Affairs of the Supreme Court. It was subsequently reported that the Supreme Court’s Extraordinary Control Chamber had revoked the Sejm Speaker’s decision to terminate the mandate of MP Maciej Wąsik. Yesterday it was reported that the same chamber had revoked the decision of the President of the Sejm regarding the expiry of the mandate of MP Mariusz Kamiński.
