Former Deputy Prime Minister and former EU Commissioner Elżbieta Bieńkowska is being considered for the position of President of the Orlen Group – reports “Rzeczpospolita” on its website.
Business Insider Polska previously reported that former Warsaw Vice President Robert Soszyński has the best chance to take over the leadership of PKN Orlen from Daniel Obajtek.
However, it now appears that Tusk would look for a successor, or rather a successor, in someone else. This person is Elżbieta Bieńkowska, who was Minister of Regional Development during the PO-PSL government, and then the head of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Development and the Deputy Prime Minister. In the years 2014–2019, Donald Tusk’s long-time aide was EU Commissioner for the Internal Market and Services.
Bieńkowska more controllable?
Why the change in favorite?
Tusk would prefer someone in this position to be more controllable, which is why Elżbieta Bieńkowska’s shares have risen
– we read on the website rp.pl.
And although Bieńkowska was recorded on tapes from the restaurant “Sowa and Friends”, for Tusk it is not a big problem. Finally, as someone familiar with the head of government’s entourage notes in an interview with “Rzeczpospolita”, “Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz and Radosław Sikorski were also tapped as ministers.”
