European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said the EC was seeking a plan B from Brussels to provide financial assistance to Kiev in case negotiations on the allocation of funds from the pan-European budget fail. This was reported by RIA News.
He emphasized that the best solution is for all 27 EU member states to reach a consensus. Von der Leyen added that other options should also be considered and operational decisions are currently being prepared.
The EC President added that in December 2023, the European Commission transferred 1.5 billion euros to Ukraine. This will be enough for the Ukrainian side to cover the costs at the beginning of 2024. He added that the decision on providing new funds to Kiev should be made as soon as possible.
