The UN Security Council (SC) adopted a resolution demanding that Israel and the Palestinian radical group Hamas contribute to the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. This was reported by RIA News.
According to the text of the resolution, the world organization’s Security Council calls for rapid steps to immediately establish safe, unimpeded and expanded humanitarian access, as well as to provide conditions for the cessation of hostilities.
The resolution states that the UN Security Council has asked the organization’s secretary-general to urgently select a “senior humanitarian coordinator” who will oversee the assistance, coordination, tracking, verification and distribution of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian region. The resolution also calls for refueling the region and releasing all hostages as soon as possible.
According to the agency, 13 countries voted for the resolution, while two countries (the USA and Russia) abstained.
