PiS MPs Mariusz Błaszczak and Waldemar Buda announced they would table a motion of no confidence against the Minister of Culture and National Heritage Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz. In their opinion, Sienkiewicz committed, among other things: violations of the Constitution and the Broadcasting Act.
During a press conference in the Sejm, PiS MPs Mariusz Błaszczak and Waldemar Buda announced that they would submit a vote of no confidence to the head of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.

Liability for misuse
As Błaszczak ruled, Sienkiewicz had “violated the Constitution by depriving the right to information and also by violating other laws, including especially the Broadcasting Act.”
We also accuse Sienkiewicz of responsibility for the losses suffered by the Ministry of Finance company – not one, but three – illegally taken over on the basis of this particular operation. Switching off the TVP Info signal on December 19 undoubtedly caused losses for this company – this is already criminal liability
– added.
Those who committed the abuses – both Sienkiewicz and the neo-presidents of these companies – will be held accountable for the abuses. We demand political responsibility in the form of dismissing Sienkiewicz from the position of Minister of Culture and National Heritage. We are convinced that Sienkiewicz will also be held criminally liable in the future
– said Błaszczak.
He also stated that shutting down TVP Info is also an attack on state security.
Błaszczak believed that Sienkiewicz’s actions “implemented Donald Tusk’s plan”.
Donald Tusk has repeatedly spoken about this plan to take over the public media. The responsibility for all this, for this attack on the media, for the attempt to take over the public media, also lies with Donald Tusk.
– he emphasized.

A vote of no confidence against Sienkiewicz
As the former head of the Ministry of Defense added, a vote of no confidence could be tabled at any time now.
We expect that this will be dealt with at the next or subsequent session in accordance with the rules of procedure of the Sejm
– Błaszczak further stated.
PiS MP Waldemar Buda quoted an excerpt from the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights opinion, which read: “However, we cannot fail to note that the way changes in public media are initiated raises serious legal doubts.”
When asked how long PiS MPs plan to stay in the public media offices, Błaszczak said that “the parliamentary intervention follows directly from the law on the execution of MPs and Senators.”
PiS parliamentarians are active, we are against breaking the law. That is why we will continue to carry out parliamentary interventions for as long as necessary
– he announced.

On Friday, the HFHR released a statement about the situation in the public media.
The current way of functioning of Polish Television, Polish Radio and the Polish Press Agency clearly contradicted what public media should be in a democratic state governed by law. Public television and radio have clearly violated their legal obligation to provide content that is pluralistic, impartial, balanced and independent
– we are reading.
These media also regularly reported cases of harassment of journalists who worked there and diligently performed their professional duties. There is therefore no doubt that public media needs urgent and thorough reforms. We recognize that political and legal conditions make such reforms very difficult. However, it cannot escape our notice that the way in which changes are initiated in the public media raises serious legal doubts.
– added.
