Deputy Speaker of the Senate Magdalena Biejat decided to resolve the humanitarian crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border. Despite the fact that Gazeta Wyborcza openly admitted to publishing lies about what was happening at the border, the representative of the left supported the call of non-governmental organizations and aid agencies operating on the Polish-Belarusian border to immediately stop the misfortunes . Magdalena Biejat invited the head of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration to develop a comprehensive migration policy.
Biejat supports ending pushbacks
During a press conference on resolving the humanitarian crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border, Senate Vice President Magdalena Biejat supported the call of non-governmental organizations and aid agencies operating on the border to immediately stop the pushbacks (return to the state border). .
Today, pushbacks pose a risk to the health and lives of people reaching Poland
– Biejat emphasized. She pointed out that it was also “a real lack of control over who stays in Poland.”
They have no justification from a humanitarian perspective or from the perspective of maintaining border security
– she emphasized.
As a representative of the Migration Team, she invited the government, the Minister of Administration and the Interior, to engage in dialogue with aid agencies and non-governmental organizations and to develop a comprehensive migration policy.
Order to cooperate with NGOs
Senate Vice President Maciej Żywno noted that the issue of the humanitarian crisis at the border must also be addressed at the regional level. As he said, enabling and even obliging cooperation with non-governmental organizations – organizations that save lives and want to help – is also a legal obligation of the voivode, in this case of Podlasie.
Former Deputy Ombudsman Dr. Hanna Machińska drew attention to the measures taken at the level of the Council of Europe.
The recommendation of the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights, who made this recommendation after a visit to Poland and other countries, states that pushbacks are an illegal instrument under international law
– she emphasized.
We call for the immediate abolition of the regulations that are the initial basis for these setbacks. I hope that a migration policy will be developed that is in line with international standards
– said Machińska.
“GW” admits that there is fraud
Let’s not forget that Czerska’s editors immediately admitted that “families with children, an educated Afghan woman, a pregnant woman – people like the Netherlands in the film are exceptions.” The story of “little Eileen” was also fictional. Activists and media supporting the opposition outdid each other in December 2021 by reporting that the girl’s parents would be deported to Belarus and that the child was wandering alone in the forest in several degrees of frost. Even the Ombudsman intervened in this case.
Serving the public with a filtered and enhanced view of reality (paternalistically assuming they can’t handle the whole thing) works until no one wants to come any closer. What if, after seeing the Dutch film, someone goes to the border, where instead of families with children, he sees a current image of the migration route: young boys as if they came from the covers of right-wing media? Or he watches scenes on social media where he cuts a fence with a saw blade and pries it up with a crowbar, then runs to the car (with the “fire” icon and the caption “game”). Or those who crossed the bridge over the Oder with the caption “Invasion of Germany” and an Arabic rap background?
– wrote Małgorzata Tomczak in “Gazeta Wyborcza”.
