I believe these are illegal actions of the current government – Waldemar Andzel, member of the parliamentary committee on secret services, told PAP when asked about the dismissal of the heads of the services. He recalled that the term of the current head of the CBA, Andrzej Stróżny, will expire in May 2024.
“There is no reason to fire the head of the CBA.”
When PAP asked him about the law on the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau and the possibility that the term of office of the head of the CBA would expire in the event of death or resignation, he replied:
There is no reason to fire the head of the CBA.
He added that those in power have announced the liquidation of the CBA, so that – as he emphasized – the resignation of the head of the CBA is only one of the elements.
All this is an act to the detriment of the Polish state
– he pointed out. He added that he believed the case would be taken to court.

Last week, Prime Minister Donald Tusk asked the College of Secret Services, the Parliamentary Committee on Secret Services and the president to give their opinion on the dismissal of the heads of the Homeland Security Service, the Foreign Intelligence Service, the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau, the Military Counterintelligence Service and the Military Intelligence Service.
The head of the President’s Chancellery, Grażyna Ignaczak-Bandych, told PAP on Friday that the head of government’s applications were received on Wednesday and are being processed. She pointed out that opinions on the dismissal of heads of services are not binding on the applicant, and the regulations do not specify the date on which they should be issued.
Last Wednesday, the dismissal of the service chiefs received a positive recommendation from the College of Secret Services; previously, the parliamentary committee for secret services did so (six MPs voted in favor of the positive advice, and one was against – Waldemar Andzel).
