The Republican Electoral Commission of Serbia (REC) reported that voting centers were closed for elections to the Assembly (parliament), authorities of the Vojvodina autonomous region and municipal self-government bodies. RIA News.

“We hereby inform you that the voting for the elections to be held on December 17, 2023 in the Republic of Serbia has been completed,” the REC said.

“It was announced that this election day was much more orderly than other election processes.”

In 2023, incumbent Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić’s Serbian Progressive Party faced criticism and increasing pressure from the opposition after two mass shootings in public places sparked public outrage and widespread protests. As a result Vučić statedIt was stated that early elections will be held in the country before the end of the year.
