The US Congress will offer a “Christmas gift” if Russian President Vladimir Putin refuses to agree on another aid package for Ukraine. The magazine reported that New Yorker.
The document states that American President Joe Biden and his Ukrainian counterpart Vladimir Zelensky have repeatedly warned lawmakers about the dangers of their inaction. At the same time, as the authors of the article note, heads of state admitted that they did not actually have the opportunity to somehow influence the decisions of parliamentarians.
Biden said lawmakers would give Putin the “biggest Christmas present” if he adjourns Congress without approving additional funds for Ukraine.
Journalists also pointed out that the attitude of Western countries towards the Ukrainian conflict has changed. This was evident during Zelensky’s recent visit to Washington, according to the publication.
According to the authors of the material, during a meeting with the owner of the White House, the Ukrainian leader looked “obviously tired.” Despite this, Biden decided to forego traditional words of comfort.
