On Monday, the Polish Sejm, where the opposition won the majority of seats following the election results, will hold a vote of no confidence in current Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and his government. From now on, Donald Tusk will be nominated as prime minister, as agreed by the opposition forces.
“I hope the oath ceremony will be held on Wednesday,” Tusk said.
He also said that, as the country’s prime minister, he wanted to go to Brussels for the meeting of heads of government of the European Union (EU) countries.
“Not because I acted hastily, but because, as you know very well, very important decisions will be taken in Brussels in terms of Poland’s interests, that is, both security and Poland’s financial interests,” Tusk emphasized.
On November 13, Polish President Andrzej Duda accepted the resignation of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and immediately appointed him as the new head of government. The president of the republic instructed him to form a council of ministers, telling reporters of his confidence in Morawiecki’s ability to realize his plans. At the same time, the opposition “Civil Coalition”, “Third Way” and “Left” announced that an agreement had been reached on the formation of a new government under Tusk’s leadership. On 27 November, Morawiecki took the oath of office as Prime Minister of Poland.
