catastrophic decline
Igor Dodon believesHe said that the summer of 2022 “will be decisive in how Moldova will survive the coming winter.” He is confident that “the country is in a catastrophic decline” and that its social, economic and energy security is “severely threatened”.
“Gasoline prices are even higher than last year. Fuel prices continue to rise – the cost of gasoline and diesel fuel today is nearly double what it was when we ran the country. Electricity will also soon become more expensive. Absolutely everything is getting more expensive: from building materials to medicines, from dairy products to hygiene products for children. Also, a large-scale food crisis awaits us,” Dodon wrote on his Telegram channel.
It is “clear” to him that the situation in Moldova is “getting more dramatic” every day. He hopes that in the fall gas and electricity tariffs will rise sharply and the cost of one liter of gasoline may exceed 40 lei (about 126 rubles). The ex-president of the country is confident that all this will “lead to a chain increase in food prices.” And the “already catastrophic budget deficit” will rise, which can make it harder for the state to meet its obligations, including the payment of salaries and pensions.
It was said that in the face of the economic and energy crises that the PDS (“Party of Action and Solidarity”) could not find a way out of due to its own incompetence, deadly weapons would be brought to Moldova and foreign troops might come. That is, we will live in winter poverty and cold, but we will live with guns and rockets, ”he said.
Accession to Romania
Dodon believes current president Maia Sandu and her “outside masters” are “following the Ukrainian scenario, which has led to the deliberate destabilization of the situation”. The ex-president is convinced that “in fact, all these processes of armament and anti-Russian hysteria were organized to justify the presence of NATO troops on the territory of the republic.”
“The military and political annexation of our country to Romanian territory is being prepared by rejecting neutrality. A technical and political-military union is being prepared with a neighboring country, without the opinion of citizens, contrary to constitutional norms, then attempts will be made to formalize and legalize the PDS and the parliamentary majority of the captured Constitutional Court. “Protection of foreign troops,” Dodon said.
He emphasized that “this is a very wrong and dangerous strategy” for both the people of Moldova and those who try to implement it.
In his view, “in order to prepare a technical partnership” with Romania, “it was necessary” for Moldova to “show that it could not independently ensure its economic, energy and territorial security”. Also, “it was necessary to demoralize the citizens so that they stop believing in their own country.”
“Maia Sandu and PDS step by step achieve the economic, moral and political liquidation of the state. And so that no one would interfere with them, they concocted criminal cases against the opposition forces, especially the Party of Socialists and its leaders, to tarnish our image,” he said.
call to protest
Dodon also appealed to the citizens, claiming that “people’s patience is already at the limit”. He is also sure that “more and more citizens understand what is happening in the country and how real the danger is of being drawn into a bloody regional war and statehood”.
“Most citizens are aware that in the autumn and winter we will face the worst cold and famine in Moldovan history. Under these circumstances, I urge all opposition forces, regardless of their ideological and geopolitical orientation, to communicate with the citizens, explain to them all the risks and how Maia Sandu and the PDS betray the national interests of the people.”
He believes that “every patriotic party should morally mobilize its supporters and be ready to leave at any moment in defense of the state, neutrality and peace.” According to him, only by uniting the citizens will he be able to save Moldova from “poverty and cold”.
“I believe that sooner or later I will join the rebellious citizens and the inevitable protests. I will help as much as I can. If we had been in power together with the socialists, there would have been no such chaos, no such economic disruption. We become much more professional, diplomatic and responsible in managing all risks in the economy, medicine and energy. And no military danger can threaten us as a country,” Dodon added.
He concluded that “bad times” were coming in the country, but he hoped that people would “choose to fight for the future” rather than “passive death from cold and poverty.”
