We have known who Donald Tusk is for a long time. If anyone had any doubts, the series “Reset” dispelled them. But since 6.5 million Poles voted for the Civic Coalition and the parliamentary majority decides to appoint him as Prime Minister, democratic elections must be accepted. Calling on the president to “refuse to take Tusk’s oath” is unfounded and can only lead to a new crisis and deep division on the right. It is the Sejm that will decide on the election of the new Prime Minister. This is what the Constitution says.
The Committee on Russian Influence warns about Tusk
The commission to study Russian influence was dissolved by the “eight-star coalition”, which was extremely afraid of this area of research. However, the committee submitted a partial report. It follows that the Military Counterintelligence Service, an institution whose main tasks are to protect the Polish Armed Forces from threats from foreign special services, has been influenced by the Russian Federation. The conclusions are alarming and accompanied by a clear recommendation from the Commission, not to entrust the former heads of the Military Counterintelligence Service (General Nosek, General Pytel and Colonel Dusza) with security-related tasks. Personal applications also apply to politicians. The Commission identified persons “responsible for monitoring the Polish secret services, including the Military Counterintelligence Service”, and stressed that “Donald Tusk, Jacek Cichocki, Bogdan Klich, Tomasz Siemoniak and Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz should not be entrusted with public positions responsible for state security.”

A tough opposition candidate
Ignoring the commission’s findings in the current political reality would be grossly imprudent. But let’s have no illusions. All these politicians – led by Donald Tusk – form the core staff of the current opposition. Cichocki is already the head of the Chancellery of the Sejm and the political guide of Szymon Hołownia, Donald Tusk is the opposition candidate for prime minister, and the others will soon take over important ministries. Since the first action was the liquidation of the commission investigating Russian influence, there is certainly no question of its recommendations being taken into account. Today’s meeting between Szymon Hołownia and Donald Tusk and their joint press conference only confirm how relentless the drive to quickly take power is.
The second constitutional step – decision of the Sejm
That is why there are voices opposing the inauguration of Donald Tusk. The point, however, is that they are formulated in a way that is doomed to failure, because it is contrary to the provisions of the Constitution of the Republic of Poland and the principles of democracy. Marek Jakubiak is calling on Poles to put pressure on the president by sending emails to him and his office staff “so that he does not appoint Tusk as prime minister.” Apparently, given the facts, the postulate is understandable, but pointed in the wrong direction. The whole process was clearly laid down in the Constitution of the Republic of Poland. It is not the president who appoints the prime minister in the second constitutional step. The president’s decision to appoint a specific person as head of government takes place only in the first step. Andrzej Duda had no doubts about entrusting this mission to Mateusz Morawiecki, as leader of the party that won the parliamentary elections. He spoke clearly about it in an interview for the weekly magazine “Sieci” and the portal wPolityce.pl. The government has been sworn in and the Prime Minister will give a statement on December 11, after which a vote of confidence will take place. If he doesn’t receive it, the Sejm will choose the Prime Minister. The president only has to appoint him and thereby accept the will of the parliamentary majority. The Constitution describes it as follows:
In light of these provisions, giving the impression that it is the President who chooses the Prime Minister at this stage is not only false but also harmful. The consequences are easy to imagine. It is easy to cause disappointment among conservative voters who are wrongly convinced that the president could have acted differently. The opposition will certainly make careful use of this. It is no secret that Tusk’s government will fight the president on all fronts.
Therefore, all calls should be directed to those who will make real decisions on this issue. They will therefore be taken over by the Sejm, including MP Marek Jakubiak. So if you ask anyone about this, this is it to parliamentarians. Perhaps not all politicians of the current opposition are resistant to the facts, blind to the findings of the commission and absolutely obedient to the orders of Donald Tusk? Perhaps there are still some righteous people within the Polish People’s Party or other groups for whom the promise made in the oath to “guard the sovereignty of the homeland, the well-being of its citizens and respect for the legal order of the Republic of Poland ” within the borders of the realm of loyalty and honor.
