From the moment the hybrid attack on the Belarusian-Polish border began in the summer of 2021, carried out by the services of Lukashenko and Putin with the help of illegal immigrants from around the world, the then opposition and its non-governmental organizations, such as and the media that supported them, began to take action.
An attack on the border guard
Attempts were made to provide “humanitarian” assistance to illegal immigrants on the Belarusian side, and when the Polish Border Guard did not allow this, its officers were ruthlessly attacked, attempts were made to identify them and their names, surnames and addresses began to be to appear. are published on social media to enable harassment of their families.
This was often done by parliamentarians and senators, and even members of the European Parliament from the opposition, the Platform, the Left and the Hołownia movement, who tried to use their mandate for activities that were not only illegal, but also directly harmful to Poland and our reason for existence. ‘état.
With the arrival of the autumn and winter period of 2021, the rhetoric of these types of speeches intensified, talking about missing children whose parents were forcibly returned to Belarus by the Border Guard, about immigrants swimming day and night on border rivers and were afraid of going ashore, and even of collective burials in the forest, which in turn would be organized by Polish forest rangers.
False story from opposition MPs
Such stories were told from the parliamentary podium by opposition MPs, dazzling public opinion with the drama of the situations described, often ending with the death of immigrants or their disappearance, for which full responsibility had to be borne by the border guards, and later also by soldiers and police officers assigned to guard the stormed area, by thousands of immigrants along the Belarusian-Polish border.
Stories like the one about the “children from Michałów”, who would first go to Poland and later be taken to the Belarusian border and “pushed” into Belarus, the story of an immigrant, Ibrahim, who lived in land was pushed into the river near the Belarusian border guard and who swam in icy water for six days and only came ashore at night, and finally the story of four-year-old Eileen, who, separated from her parents, returned to Belarus and is said to have wandered for several days at night in the Białowieża Forest.
Unmasking the lies
Recently, Gazeta Wyborcza published an article by Małgorzata Tomczak, in which the author directly admits that the images of terrible events on the Belarusian-Polish border created for months by the left-liberal media were simply not true.
As the journalist writes, little Eileen, who was to die in the forest, did not exist, and yet in December 2021 this story was described in dramatic terms from the parliamentary gallery by MP Gramatyka of the Hołownia Movement and non-governmental organizations. and even the Ombudsman joined in her search.
Moreover, all these false stories were used by the opposition in the election campaign, and MP Joanna Scheuring-Wielgus, who represented the left in the election debate on TVP, spoke about children dying at the border.
A cynical game and the damage done to Poland and Poles
The film “The Green Border” by Agnieszka Holland was devoted to these and similar untrue stories, which now turn out to be untrue, and although it did not attract much audience in Poland, it caused great damage to our country abroad, where it often shown.
Opposition members Róża Thun from the Hołownia Movement and Janina Ochojska from the Platform organized exhibitions in the European Parliament, the message of which was clear: Polish uniformed services are committing acts on the Belarusian-Polish border that are not only shameful, but are also contrary to national and European law and deserve condemnation.
All these actions of opposition politicians, members of a number of non-governmental organizations, celebrities and the media associated with them have caused incredible damage to the image of Poland and Poland, even in a situation where at the same time we have made a huge effort to the several million war refugees from Ukraine entering our homes. Now it turns out that many of the extremely loud stories about the situation on the Belarusian-Polish border were simply not true and only stirred up bad emotions against the ruling Law and Justice Party.
There is also no doubt that the negative emotions surrounding this issue were carefully exploited by the opposition during the election campaign and likely contributed to the weaker outcome of Law and Justice.
However, neither opposition politicians, nor journalists, nor members of non-governmental organizations participating in this great hoax feel guilty. The election campaign is over and it can now be said and written that these famous stories about the Belarusian-Polish border are simply made up. upwards.
