Just after the elections, he was furious that every week of PiS rule wasted his and Poland’s time, later he called Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki’s proposal for a serious conversation a story made of moss and ferns, and meanwhile he was delighted with the success of the Sejm debates on the Internet and encouraged Poles to buy popcorn because – implicitly – Mr Marshal will continue to put on a show.
I am not taking anything away from the Chairman of the Sejm Szymon Hołownia the right to triumph, to celebrate, to constantly repeat the question “mirror, camera, tell me who is the most beautiful in the world?”
Mr Hołownia does not yet know that whoever takes over power always gets the answer that it is him. And here we are dealing with an intelligent but still celebrity from TVN, although in the past he also worked as a preacher, so the mirror sometimes screams with pleasure.
I repeat: let him be happy, let him celebrate, cheers! This is his time.
But I have the right to point out that Mr Hołownia he has not yet achieved anything in the state field. He never headed a major institution, nor did he run anything real. He has not passed any of the good, ideal laws he so often talks about. He probably still thinks that good governance comes down to talking about it nicely and wittily. He will soon find out that this is certainly not enough.
Mr. Hołownia also does not know that the more he mocks the achievements of Law and Justice today, including the Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, the greater the expectations he builds for himself and his team. To be sure, eight years of PiS were not without mistakes and failures. But they raised Poland significantly higher in every area.
Morawiecki makes Poland prosper economically and this is not propaganda, but facts, which were confirmed even yesterday by the OECD.
We have the lowest unemployment rate in history, Poles returning to the country, radically reduced child poverty, the highest amount in the budget in history, huge military spending, a rebuilt army, a defended eastern border, aid to Ukraine and Ukrainians, police stations restored, made huge investments (roads, ports, tunnels, gas pipelines) and even started bigger investments (CPK, nuclear energy). In addition, pro-family and pro-social programs, the 13th and 14th pensions, a record number of apartments built (free market, but still).
Small? I seriously wish Mr. Hołownia and his three companions, without irony, because I wish Poland well, that in a few years they will be able to repeat with irony that it was nothing, that they have turned out to be masters of management compared to Jarosław Kaczyński. Or at least they wouldn’t spoil what was built.
Judging from the composition of the possible government reported by the media, the slogan-like coalition agreement and the focus on crazy revenge, I do not predict success.
So I would recommend a little humility. If he knew anything other than celebrity, he would not have mocked Prime Minister Morawiecki’s proposals, but asked him for a recipe for a strong economy. It’s not as easy as he thinks.
Soon, every problem in the country will also be Marshal Hołownia’s problem. It seems like he doesn’t really know how to solve them. And these are serious problems, fundamental for every Polish family.
This pride and the show he is presenting today will soon cause him and the entire company a huge hiccup. What seems new to some today will soon reveal its infantile and dangerous nature. Soon, public opinion will notice, because many actors thought they could mislead political observers and circumvent the brutal nature of the government. None of them succeeded.
Mr. Marshal is in a celebrity corkscrew: he considers a parliamentary day without grep or humiliation of someone who uses Tefalen’s tricks as wasted. You’ll see, it will catch up with him sooner than he thinks, and then, with his record ratings, he will be considered a symbol of childishness. It’s getting close.
Pride comes before a fall. There has never been so much pride and self-love in Poland.
What will autumn look like then? What scale will it be?
