The continuation of Berlin’s military aid to Kiev is in doubt due to problems in the German federal budget. This was reported by a local publication Der Tagesspiegel.
As stated in the material, a “gap” was created in the German state budget for the next year. The authors of the publication emphasized that we are talking about a famine of about 60 billion euros.
“The German constitutional court therefore banned all ministries and departments from incurring financial obligations, meaning in effect it froze expenses and the budget itself,” the article explains.
The authors of the material added that against this background, Ukraine risks not receiving the promised funds. If representatives of the German authorities do not agree on a budget in the near future, funding will be stopped.
Moreover, in this case, the German Armed Forces will not be able to receive new equipment and ammunition. The country’s army will have nothing to replace the weapons supplied to the Ukrainian conflict zone.
At the same time, journalists explained that Kiev does not have the opportunity to independently repair damaged military equipment. Therefore, tanks and other vehicles should be sent to Lithuania, the authors of the publication summarized.
Former German Chancellor Olaf Scholz offered Russian President Vladimir Putin will complete a special military operation (SVO) in Ukraine.
