Sixteen Russian spies are on trial. Prosecutors from Lublin have just filed charges against members of a dangerous spy network, the Minister of Justice and Attorney General Zbigniew Ziobro announced on the Twitter/X platform.

The defendants, on behalf of the Russian intelligence service, carried out intelligence activities around seaports and military units, prepared acts of sabotage and also undertook propaganda activities against Poland. They each risk a prison sentence of ten years

The issue was previously reported by the wPolityce.pl portal. According to the National Public Prosecution Service, the investigation was conducted jointly with the Internal Security Service and the charges were filed by the Lublin branch of the PZ Public Prosecution Service.
The indictment concerns 16 people who were part of a spy network that collaborated with Russian special services. The defendants, identified as foreigners from beyond the eastern border, carried out intelligence and propaganda activities against Poland and prepared acts of sabotage on behalf of Russian intelligence.

She added that the investigation results show that the group was active from January 2023 to March 2023, among others. in Biała Podlaska, Chełm, Medyka, Przemyśl, Rzeszów, Warsaw and other cities in the country, and the defendants kept their clients informed of the results of the investigation, for which they received compensation.
At the request of the prosecutor, a temporary arrest is imposed on 15 suspects due to the need to ensure due process and the real fear of escape of the suspects, who face serious threats.
